WORKSHOPS AT GLASSHOUSE

Glasshouse Project operates three major programs: an Artist in Residence Program (AIR), an Event Program (S.O.U.P), and a newly launched Conversation Lab for local interdisciplinary artists, writers and thinkers. These programs often intertwine in holistic ways to form a fluid dynamic between public facing activities and professional development, presentation and research. In addition to events, which are traditionally free or donation based, we offer workshops and learning opportunities in person and online.

Registration to the educational workshops is available online. Sliding scale options available. Contact us for details.

The Making of Soup

Instructor: Lital Dotan

A comprehensive performance art workshop introducing the Glasshouse Principles to balancing an enduring performance practice utilizing the domestic sphere.

10 meetings online, June 3- July 3, 2024

Mondays & Wednesdays 5-7p

$250 with sliding scale options

In sharing the Glasshouse Principles we wish to nourish artists and creatives interested in performance art with an effective toolset and critical discourse, while developing their body of work in the field.

Through circulating between four core elements of the Glasshouse Principles- The Daily Routine, One To One Performance, Homage Performance and The 24h Performance- we will relate to core elements in the life and process of a performance artist, in methodic forms. We do this while embracing the simplicity and specificity of one’s domestic space. This pedagogy which we have been practicing and teaching for over 20 years, considers performance art as a form and an ecology of constant movement. It looks at the work of a performance artist as an ongoing exchange in relation with self and community, environment and site, while being in time.

During the 5 week online workshop participants will learn from the history of the medium through doing, develop their individual voice and performance portfolio in relation to current time and site, understand endurance in practice and theory, and embody a collective way of thinking, organizing, supporting and staying in performance art together.
